Privacy Policy — Word Pounce

Effective date: October 24, 2026

Panther Technology Solutions, LLC ("we," "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what the Word Pounce Android apps collect, how it is used, and the choices you have. It covers the apps only; our website has its own privacy policy.

The short version: we collect nothing and we run no servers — the paid app has no internet access at all, the free app connects only to show you ads, your stats never leave your device except through your own Android backup, and neither app asks you to sign in.

This policy covers both editions:

  • Word Pounce — the paid app, com.panthertechnologysolutions.wordpounce
  • Word Pounce Free — the ad-supported app, com.panthertechnologysolutions.wordpounce.free

What we collect

Nothing. We operate no servers and keep no database of players. Neither app sends us your name, email, location, contacts, photos, or any other personal information, because neither app has anywhere to send it.

What the apps store on your device

Both editions save your progress locally so the game is where you left it, in storage that other apps cannot read:

  • Games played and won, your current and best streak, and your guess distribution
  • The current puzzle number, its answer, and the guesses you have made
  • A practice game in progress, if you have one

Clearing the app's data or uninstalling it erases all of this permanently.

Device backup. The apps use Android's standard Auto Backup, so Android may copy this saved data to your own Google Drive account to restore if you change device. That is done by Android under your account and your settings, not by us — we cannot see or reach those backups. You can switch it off in your device settings under Google → Backup.

Advertising — Word Pounce Free only

The free app shows advertising supplied by Google AdMob, in two places:

  • one banner at the top of the screen, always present; and
  • an optional rewarded video, shown only when you ask to have a letter of the answer revealed and only after you confirm. Decline it and nothing is requested.

The paid app contains no advertising code at all: the advertising libraries are not merely switched off but absent from the installed app, which is why it needs no internet permission. The hint exists there too, and costs nothing.

To serve ads, Google and its advertising partners may collect and process:

  • Your device's advertising ID, a resettable identifier
  • IP address, and an approximate location derived from it — typically no finer than your city or region
  • Device and app information — model, Android version, language, screen size, network type, and that the ad appeared in Word Pounce Free
  • Ad interaction data — that an ad was shown, seen, or tapped, and for a rewarded video, how much of it you watched

Google processes this under its own policies, not ours:

We receive only aggregate, non-identifying reports from AdMob — total impressions and revenue. We never receive your advertising ID, your IP address, or any report that identifies you.

Your choices

Everyone. You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your device settings, usually under Settings → Privacy → Ads. Deleting it stops personalised advertising; you will still see ads, but not ones based on your interests. Installing the paid app removes advertising altogether.

In the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland. Before the free app requests its first ad, it shows a consent form through Google's certified consent management platform. You may consent or decline, and declining does not stop you playing — the ad space is simply left empty. To change your answer later, open STATS and tap Privacy options.

Our legal basis for advertising data is your consent under the GDPR and UK GDPR. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Since we hold none of it ourselves, requests about advertising data go to Google; anything about the apps can come to us. You may also complain to your local supervisory authority.

In a US state with a privacy law. You can opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising: open STATS and tap Privacy options. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act we do not sell or share personal information, because we collect none. The advertising above is processed by Google, which maintains its own CCPA disclosures and opt-outs.

What we do not do

Neither edition of Word Pounce:

  • Requires or offers an account, sign-in, or profile
  • Collects your name, email, phone number, or address
  • Asks for your contacts, photos, files, camera, microphone, or precise location
  • Contains third-party analytics, attribution, or crash-reporting services
  • Shows ads in the paid edition

The share button builds a text summary of your result — the emoji grid — and hands it to Android's standard share sheet. You choose where it goes; the app sends it nowhere on its own.

Children

Word Pounce is a general-audience word game. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children. As described above, the apps give us no means of collecting such information in any case.

Retention

We retain nothing, because we collect nothing. Your local game data stays on your device until you clear the app's data or uninstall it. Any Android backup copy follows your Google account settings and Google's retention rules. Advertising data held by Google follows Google's retention policies, linked above.

Changes to this policy

If we change how either app handles data — for example by adding a feature that needs network access — we will update this page and the effective date above before the change takes effect. Material changes to the free app's advertising will also appear in the in-app consent form.
